In 1982 my husband, myself and our two children purchased a farm in the Cowichan Valley. Roger Jackson – Fine Art Painter
www.rogerjackson.ca Born in England, has lived in Ontario, Alberta and now in Mill Bay. He has been painting since the early 1990’s, in oil and acrylic, memories and scenes from life, either plein air or in studio. The natural world is a constantly changing tapestry; sometimes it’s a small view in a vast landscape and other times it’s the grand view that catches my attention. Old world architecture and history intrigue me. I am fascinated by the beauty of the structures that still stand after witnessing hundreds of years of passing lives and the opposing forces of wonder and despair of world events. Marine subjects and working boats, whether at the dock or on open water are another area of interest. My paintings are intended to pay homage to their hard-working crews and this way of life. |
Linda Yurgensen - Landscape Painter
www.lindayurgensen.com Linda Yurgensen (b. 1958) is a self-taught artist living on Vancouver Island who paints primarily in acrylics and oil. Always drawing as a child she advanced to painting as a young adult but with the responsibilities of a growing family put art aside until just a few short years ago. Since that time Linda has been growing as an artist and painting has been part of her daily routine. In her home studio Linda creates works that are full of saturated color and light and heavy with texture that has become her trademark. Light, color and composition are all vital elements in her work. Linda's work has been included in many private collections throughout the United States and Canada and her work and painting process has been included in a book published by Walter Foster entitled "The Art of Painting in Acrylic" in 2013. Elaine Thibault - Photography and Painting
I delight in the discovery of my own ‘backyard’ – be it 3 steps, 3 blocks, or 3 hours away. Something grabs my eye and prompts me to wonder who, how, or why. I sense a fuller story to be told. Truth? Fantasy? There is always “more than meets the eye”. Using a variety of mediums I begin the journey of creating each piece of art. The art emerges from the process of discovery and further exploration. The style I employ is dictated by the image as it emerges. Always it is an invitation to the viewer to engage in their own journey via this art. |
