Huckleberry Holler - BAND
Bryon Thompson is a retired teacher who spends most of his time teaching music from home. He plays a variety of instruments, such as Dobro, Guitar, Mandolin and Lap Steel. Bryon is gifted singer, recording artist and songwriter. He is currently is in five different bands in the Cowichan Valley. Freda Eckstein is a musician, singer, songwriter and recording artist who has been featured on CBC radio and TV backing up such notables as Ken Hamm and Will Millar. Her main instrument is bass but she also plays mandolin and Ukulele. Together as “Huckleberry Holler” they are musicians who love to spread their enthusiasm of music. They are passionate about sharing the joy of music with others through performing and organizing and leading jam sessions. |

Her creative and nurturing teaching style encourages even the most hesitant youngster to join in with the activities and her passion and enthusiasm for her work shines in the joyful musical expression of the children. Woodruff Music School has been in operation in Shawnigan Lake for over 25 years, providing group music classes to all ages, toddlers thru to adults. A warm & inclusive approach to teaching, combined with a unique program in a sweet cottage-studio surrounded by garden creates a very special music experience. The philosophy surrounding the music program is one of encouraging confidence and creative self expression while building musical skills and appreciation. The movement and rhythm based classes offer opportunities for all levels of ability to be involved. |
